Reconditioned IBC totes are the workhorse of our yard and the smartest first choice for the vast majority of liquid-handling jobs. Every unit begins life carrying a single product, comes back to us, and is logged, inspected, washed or rebottled, pressure-tested and graded before it ships again. You get the same 275 or 330 gallons of usable capacity as a brand-new tank at roughly half the delivered price — and a fraction of the embodied carbon.
The reason the economics work so well is structural: the steel cage and the pallet, which are the heaviest and most energy-intensive parts of any tote to manufacture, stay in service indefinitely. We only replace what has to be replaced. That is the whole philosophy of reconditioning — renew the short-lived part, preserve the long-lived one, and keep the object out of the landfill for as long as it can safely serve.

What "reconditioned" actually means
Every reconditioned tote starts life carrying a single product. When it reaches us we log its prior contents, strip the old bottle if needed, and run the cage and pallet through a full inspection. A new or deep-cleaned bottle drops into the reclaimed cage, we pressure-test the assembly, and it ships with a traceable grade tag.
Why buyers choose reconditioned over new
A new IBC tote requires roughly 40 lbs of virgin HDPE and 60+ lbs of new steel. Reconditioning reuses the steel cage and pallet indefinitely and only replaces the bottle when contamination demands it. You get identical usable capacity while diverting the heaviest, most carbon-intensive components from landfill.

When is UN certification required?
- Regulated hazardous liquids classified as DOT Packing Group I, II or III
- International shipments where customs or the receiving country mandates UN marking

Not required for: food-grade and industrial totes used for non-regulated, non-hazmat liquids — which covers the vast majority of our customers.
Safety notes for Reconditioned IBC Totes
- Check the grade tag before filling — confirm prior contents are compatible with your product.
- Keep totes out of direct UV sunlight; HDPE degrades under prolonged UV exposure.
- Never stack full totes unless the cage carries a certified stack rating.
- Flush the valve before connecting to a dispensing line to clear valve-body residue.
- Label every filled tank with product name, date and grade — never rely on prior labels.

Every unit, the same rigor
Intake & log
We record the tank's prior contents and quarantine it by grade so its history is never lost.
Wash or rebottle
A hot-water triple-wash restores compatible bottles; when contamination demands it, a fresh bottle drops into the reclaimed cage.
Inspect
We check the bottle for cracks and crazing, the cage for corrosion and bent tube, and the pallet for sound forklift entry.
Pressure test & grade
Every assembled unit is leak- and pressure-tested, then tagged with a traceable grade before it leaves the yard.

Get the right tank the first time
- Tell us the exact product you'll store so we match a compatible prior-contents history and the right seal material.
- Choose a rinsed grade for landscaping, ballast or dust control where trace residue does not matter — it costs less.
- For anything consumable, step up to food-grade or rebottled rather than standard reconditioned.

How it compares: Versus new: about half the delivered cost and far lower embodied carbon, with identical usable capacity. Versus rinsed-only tanks: documented history and a pressure test you can trust. For most non-regulated, non-food liquids, reconditioned is simply the right answer.
Care & handling
Six rules that keep a tote working — and people safe.
- Keep totes shaded and covered — UV degrades HDPE over time; white or opaque covers dramatically extend bottle life.
- Label every tank with the current product, date filled and grade — never rely on prior labels.
- Flush the outlet valve before connecting to your line to clear any residue from the valve body.
- Use a pallet jack or forklift for all moves — never tip or roll a full IBC tote.
- Store full totes upright and flat on a stable, level surface; tilting puts stress on the cage welds.
- Return empties to us — the cage and pallet stay in service and you close the loop.

How long does a reconditioned tote last?

Yes — we buy back or collect reusable empties, so your tank re-enters the loop instead of becoming waste.
